Should Ryan Seacrest Continue As Host Of American Idol?

June 30th, 2013
by admin
A lot can be said about American Idol, one of televisions most popular singing competition shows. While it came out of the gate strong in 2002, the ratings have waned in recent years, beginning with the departure of one of its initial judges, Paula Abdul. Simon Cowell shortly followed, and by this season, even Randy Jackson, the only original judge left, will make his exit. So one question remains. With Idol executives trying to regain their viewership, should Ryan Seacrest, the last enduring cast-member from season one, continue to be the host of the show?

Despite all the turnover, Seacrest is still appealing, handling his hosting duties with the ease of the veteran he is. Certainly ratings have fallen, however, the audience may appreciate having that one thread of continuity from back in the day. Since then, Seacrest has become a media mogul, and he's practically synonymous with the show. Think of Idol, and you'll think of Ryan Seacrest.

Who knows what Seacrest himself is pondering at this point. Bottom line, everything else may be up in the air with American Idol for the upcoming season, but Ryan Seacrest should continue to be a part of the show.

Will Phillip Phillips Be As Successful As Past American Idols?

May 14th, 2013

Phillip Phillips is the most recent winner of "American Idol," and he looks easily prepared to become one of the most successful winners in the show's history. "American Idol" winners throughout the years have either become extremely successful, Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson, or disappeared quickly, Lee Dewyze and Taylor Hicks. While it hard to expect Phillip Phillips to achieve the same success as Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, he should be able to come close. Phillip Phillips lead single "Home" already become the best selling first single for any of the "American Idol" winners. Phillip Phillips is prepare for enormous success because of his genre of music. Phillips is a folk rock artist, and folk rock is bigger than it has ever been before. This should allow him to continue to build his fan base as he starts to record more songs. Phillip Phillips is also set to be the opening act for John Mayer in his upcoming tour, which can only help him gain new fans that did not watch "American Idol."

All of the great "American Idol" winners were destined to become stars with or without the show, and that can also be said about Phillip Phillips. He is one of the most unique singers in the show's history, and his great talent should propel him to stardom. If you like what you see, keep going: Phillip Phillips "Home" Beats Kelly Clarkson As Best-selling Idol Song Ever!

Would Adam Lambert Bring Excitement As An American Idol Judge?

March 28th, 2013
by admin
It's interesting to ponder whether any past American Idol contestant would make a good or exciting judge for the show. That past contestant would bring his or her specific experience to bear when giving advice to American Idol hopefuls. Hopefuls would probably listen very carefully to what that past-contestant-turned-judge had to say knowing he or she had once stood on that very mark.

So if bringing a past contestant on the show as a judge is a good idea, why not throw some excitement into the mix? A past contestant such as Adam Lambert who has a good fan following and has stirred up a bit of controversy since his season aired, would definitely raise the already high, but recently declining, show's ratings. Adam is a sensitive soul and would provide some heart-felt guidance to the newbies interspersed with his over emotional tone and animated demeanor. So would Adam Lambert bring excitement as an American Idol judge? There's only one way to find out. The network ought to give it a shot. I, for one, would definitely watch.

Which Three American Idol Judges Were the Most Popular?

September 6th, 2012

Ask someone about Simon Cowell and the first thing they will say is, "Rude!" But, give them a moment to sputter about his abhorrent behavior and they will admit that he is brilliant and tells it like it is. People love to see what the grim Brit will say to each contestant after their performance. Will he give them sage advice that is buried under what most would consider insults or will he just out and out make them cry? Simon has been mourned since his departure from the show and he is still consistently listed as our most popular American Idol judge!

Steven Tyler was only on American Idol for two seasons, but he was a much loved and respected judge. When asked, people will comment first on his personality. Everyone agrees that he knows his music and gives really good advice. And on top of that, Tyler is very entertaining. He really makes the show!

Paula Abdul was the darling of American Idol. People loved her grace, enthusiasm, and compassion. She was the perfect offset to Simon's bluntness. With her lovely smile and encouraging advice, it is easy to see why so many find Paula their favorite judge!

Does American Idol Need To Undergo a Complete Overhaul?

September 4th, 2012
by admin
It has been at least 10 years since we saw the beginning of American Idol. The show has come a long way since Kelly Clarkson. However, it needs to either change or stop airing. The original judges brought life to the show. Simon and his rude comments gave us all a laugh, and Paula was the one who made everyone feel better even if they could not sing. The talent was extraordinary in the beginning, but now it seems as though people are only attempting to be on the show to see their face on television.

American Idol could use more than three judges. The judges should not have a background in music. If there were people who knew nothing about the music industry and were only there to judge someone based on their voice, then the show might have some better people competing. There should also be different cities that the judges go to instead of in California and Florida all the time. The show might want to consider the stage that is used. The same stage has been used for multiple seasons, and it gets old seeing the same thing every year. Different lighting or backgrounds could at least be added so it looks like they are in a different location each week.

Was Simon Cowell’s Exit From American Idol Responsible For Lower Ratings?

September 1st, 2012
by admin
Since Simon Cowell has left American Idol, the show hasn't quite been the same and they have the ratings to show for it. The network thought that bringing in new judges and more guest judges would help their ratings, but in turn, it may have actually hurt them. The often-blunt British judge has been criticized for being too harsh, but he added a dynamic that fellow judge, Randy Jackson and newcomers, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, can't fill. The two new judges have done a great job at keeping avid American Idol fans at bay, but as far as bringing in new viewers, they don't have the same character that Abdul and Cowell brought. Different kinds of criticism help viewers decide who they'll vote for and sometimes what the judges have to say really changes how a viewer views a contestant. Viewers may not have always agreed with Cowell, but he was the only one willing to lay down the line and gave people something to think and talk about. Cowell may have been considered as being wrong or mean, but every show needs a villain. American Idol without Simon Cowell simply becomes another singing competition among the masses.
